Cross Kirkland Corridor Construction Update

Interim Trail construction has begun on the Cross Kirkland Corridor, starting with the south end segment of the Corridor.  Much of the corridor will be open during the construction, but individual segments will be closed while construction work is being performed.  Construction will include spreading and compacting gravel, installing fencing for safety and protection of sensitive areas, and improving street crossings within the segment.  The Interim Trail will start at 108th Avenue NE and end at Slater Avenue.

The first segment from 108th Avenue NE to the NE 68th Street bridge will be closed to the public until approximately August 15th, at which point construction will commence on the next segment north of 68th.  Each segment is estimated to take about a month to complete.  Assuming there are no construction delays, the anticipated completion is early December.

This fall, SRM Development, the property owner where Google is located, plans to start trail construction between the two Google campuses just south of 6th Street S.  The plans include a 16 foot wide hard surface trail, a secondary trail, a basketball court, resting and gathering spots, trees, a sandy beach area with a volleyball court, and a children’s play structure.
